Ingredients for 5 persons

  • 500 g of pardina lentils

  • 100 g of chorizo

  • 100 g of salted ham

  • Bacon (to taste)

  • 300 g of chopped pork ribs

  • 1 onion

  • 1 ripe tomato

  • 1 head of garlic

  • 2 medium potatoes

  • 4 bay leaves

  • 1 dash of extra virgin olive oil

  • 1 teaspoon sweet paprika

  • 3 liters of water

  • Salt to taste

How to make lentils grandma's recipe step by step

  1. Wash the lentils under the tap and let them drain.

  2. Peel the onion and leave it whole.

  3. Peel the potatoes and cut them into cubes. Set aside.

  4. Cut the tomato in half.

  5. Cut the chorizo into slices (about one finger thick).

  6. Chop the bacon and ribs.

  7. Put 3 liters of water, lentils, onion, tomato, chorizo, bacon, ribs, ham, whole head of garlic and bay leaves in a large pot.

  8. Add a dash of olive oil and salt to taste.

  9. Bring to a boil and cook for 1 hour over medium heat.

  10. After the hour, remove the onion, crush it and add it back to the pot to thicken the broth.

  11. Add the potatoes and the teaspoon of sweet paprika.

  12. Cook for 20 minutes more, stirring from time to time.
