Ingredients for macaroni and tomato (5 people)

  • ½ kg of macaroni
  • 400 g fresh sausages
  • 2 large onions
  • 1 jar of sieved tomato (approx. 400 g)
  • 1 tin of foie gras
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Grated cheese (optional, but highly recommended)

How to make macaroni and tomato step by step

If you are wondering how to make this dish juicy and flavorful, follow these simple steps:

For the tomato and sausage sauce:

  1. Cut the sausages into small pieces and set aside in a bowl.

  2. Peel the onions and crush or finely chop them. Set aside.

  3. In a large saucepan, add a good splash of olive oil and heat over medium heat.

  4. Fry the sausages until they are well browned.

  5. Add the crushed onion and let it cook slowly, stirring from time to time.

  6. Stir in the sieved tomato and a tablespoon of sugar to correct the acidity. Cook over medium heat until the tomato fries and the sauce thickens.

  7. Finally, add the can of foie gras and a pinch of salt. Stir well until the foie is melted and the sauce is creamy and homogeneous.

For the macaroni:

  1. Heat a large pot with plenty of water, a little salt and a tablespoon of olive oil.
  2. When the water comes to a boil, add the macaroni. Cook for the time indicated on the package until al dente.
  3. Drain the macaroni and mix directly with the sauce you have just prepared.

Plating:

Serve the macaroni and tomato hot. If you like, add grated cheese on top. You can also grill them for a few minutes in the oven so that the cheese melts and turns golden brown.
